My father, a talented photographer, tried valiantly to share his talent with me - every year a new camera was gifted to me with hopes that I would find the same joy in it that he did. The only camera that I can say I truly loved was the simplest of those cameras - a Kodak Instamatic. I loved the sound of the click and the mystery of waiting to get the photo back from the drug store to see what the camera saw in that moment. Technology was a barrier for me - the real cameras - those that could really deliver a good photo were way too complicated for me - until digital photography took the world by storm. About ten years ago I was broke but desperately wanted to keep the creation of art in my life - my favorite medium - oil painting - was too pricey so I decided to give photography a try. Ten years later I am still enjoying it. My camera draws me in to the beauty of one moment - one that will never be again; it clears the clutter and chaos of the world around me so that I can focus on the beauty that might otherwise go unnoticed. I live on Jamaica Pond in Boston, MA - a stunning neighborhood - inspiration is all around me. And I am blessed with the love of travel - my camera does become a bit of an addiction while I am traveling so I have to limit the time that I am with it - but I still give myself ample time to see what gifts it will deliver for me. Thanks for taking a peek at my art. All photos are owned by me - Alliea Groupp - the artist. If you would like a copy please contact me at [email protected]
